Job Title: Bursar

Location: New Jersey (Remote)

Department: Finance/Administration

Reports To: VP Finance

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and faculty.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee student accounts, including tuition and fee collection, billing, and payment processing.
• Maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and ensure fiscal responsibility.
• Work closely with the admissions and financial aid offices to coordinate student tuition and scholarship disbursements.
• Handle delinquent accounts and collaborate with collection agencies when necessary.
• Monitor and reconcile accounts receivable, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial reporting.
• Assist in budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost analysis for the institution.
• Provide financial counseling to students and families regarding payment options and plans.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
• Supervise and lead a team of finance or administrative staff where applicable.
• Collaborate with IT and other departments to improve financial systems and automation processes.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum of [5] years of experience in financial management, preferably in an educational institution.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, parents, and faculty.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle sensitive financial matters discreetly.
• Experience in accounts receivable, collections, and financial aid processing is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment & Conditions:

• Office-based position with occasional interactions with students and faculty.
