Overview
GovCIO is hiring aDataEngineer and Architect to lead the modernization of legacy software systemsfor complex conceptual data at the Department of Veterans Affairs.The candidatewill work closely with leadership, architects,andbusiness stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for transitioning outdated applications to secure, scalable, and resilient.This position is fully remote within the United States.
Please note : The contract has been awarded; however, this position remains unfunded and is contingent upon funding release.
Responsibilities
Lead with analytics,leveragingmigration patterns to proactively resolve dependencies andeliminateroadblocks before theyimpactoperations.
Champion clarity and transparency by overseeing documentation of networking, interfaces, and critical CDW boundaries.
Spearhead the conceptualization and documentation of systems, bridging the gap between technical feasibility and business needs.
Monitor system health and drive cloud optimization strategies that enhance scalability and cost-effectiveness.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for network designs, policies, and procedures, promoting consistency and scalability.
Guide the transition from on-premises to cloud solutions, championing adaptability and innovation.
Oversee the development of network diagrams and support procedures, reinforcing infrastructure resilience.
Work closely with Cloud Engineers and Architects, fostering cross-functionalsynergyto craft robust infrastructure solutions.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering with 12+ years of experience or equivalent professional experience.
Strong knowledge of software maintenance methodologies, including DevOps.
Proficiencyin SQL database management, query optimization, and stored procedures.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Proven experience in designing and implementing architecture to support scalable and efficient system development.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
Knowledge of machine learning and AI frameworks is a plus.
CI/CD pipeline development and automation.
Comprehensive understanding of security protocols and data protection measures.

Posted Pay Range
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

USD $125,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
